Domestic help, father and aide arrested for siphoning money, buying land in Bihar

Jaipur: A domestic help who allegedly siphoned off lakhs from his employer’s home in Jaipur over several years was arrested along with his father and an accomplice after the stolen money was traced to land deals in Bihar. The accused were identified as Swagatam Kumar (23), a resident of Bihar, his father Satendra Das (50), and aide Sunil Turi. The arrests were made by the Bani Park police from parts of Jharkhand and Bihar Monday, following a detailed investigation. Police said the theft came to light when a local businessman, who lives in the Bani Park area and is involved in exports, lodged a complaint on May 19. He suspected his long-time domestic aide Swagatam of stealing a significant sum of money from his house. Based on preliminary evidence, police identified the domestic aide as the prime suspect and launched a search operation across state lines.Investigations revealed that Swagatam discreetly took small amounts of money from a bag in the house over several months. The stolen money was funneled to his village in Bihar through a middleman. His father and a friend in the village allegedly used the funds to purchase two plots of land worth several lakhs.According to the officials, one of the accused acted as a courier, collecting the money from the domestic help and handing it to his father. In return for his role, the courier received Rs 2 lakh. “The father is said to have purchased a plot in Khajuri village for around Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, a second plot near the main road in Gaya was bought in his wife’s name for approximately Rs 35 lakh,” said an official.Police have obtained documents related to both land purchases and issued official correspondence to local land revenue authorities in Aurangabad and Gaya districts for further verification. All three suspects were brought to Jaipur for questioning and formally arrested. Further investigation is underway to trace the remaining stolen funds and determine if more individuals were involved.
