Bhilwara: Gulabpura police in Bhilwara district Saturday froze properties worth around Rs 50 lakh belonging to a drug smuggler as part of action against illegal assets acquired through drug trafficking.Superintendet of police Dharmendra Singh said the action was taken against Labhchand (39), a resident of Begu area in Chittorgarh district, under Section 68F of the NDPS Act. A special team led by Shahpura ASP Rajesh Arya carried out the operation.During a financial investigation, police identified both movable and immovable assets that Labchand had allegedly acquired through drug trafficking. Land and a tractor in Umar village were frozen during the procedure, and documents were sent to the competent authority under the NDPS Act in New Delhi. A notice was also issued to the accused about his properties being freezed.Police said cases had earlier been registered against Labhchand in Aasind police station for seizure of over 22 quintals of poppy husk, and in Sriganganagar district for possession of 22kg of opium.Further action is underway.
