LoP Tikaram Jully addresses media at PCC in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 02 October 2026
Jaipur: Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary action committee Friday issued a show-cause notice to former minister Vishvendra Singh, seeking his reply within seven days over alleged indiscipline, anti-party activities, and public statements against the party’s state leadership. The notice asks why his primary membership should not be suspended. The move comes days after Singh criticised Congress state leadership following the party’s poor performance in Bharatpur-Deeg civic polls. In a series of social media posts Wednesday and Friday, he questioned the functioning of district units and targeted PCC president Govind Singh Dotasra. In a post Friday, Singh wrote, “If speaking the truth and refusing to support what is wrong is a sin, I will continue to do it every time.” He added that “rather than dying by suffocation, it is better to die with self-respect,” and suggested he may no longer be able to “walk in step” with Dotasra’s policies—indicating he might quit Congress.TOI attempted to contact Singh for a statement, but he remained unavailable. The notice, issued by disciplinary committee chairperson and former minister Udailal Anjana, was based on complaints filed by Bharatpur and Deeg district Congress presidents.Among eight charges against him, the committee alleged Singh was absent from party programmes and key meetings for an extended period and had at times responded “not interested” when contacted by district presidents. It also alleged he did not cooperate with district units during recent urban local body elections in candidate selection and campaigning. The notice further claimed that a Congress-backed candidate in Bharatpur Municipal Corporation mayoral election withdrew his candidature on Singh’s instructions, after which a BJP-backed candidate was elected unopposed. The disciplinary panel objected to Singh’s posts targeting Bharatpur district president Dinesh Singh Supa and Deeg district president Rajeev Singh, and questioning their appointments. It alleged Singh made “baseless” personal and political allegations against Dotasra, saying the statements harmed the party’s image.Dotasra earlier said no formal resignation had been received from Singh and that any concerns submitted by the former minister in writing would be examined by the party.
