Jaipur: A Class 10 student died allegedly by suicide in Bharatpur’s Nagla Bhavra village Monday, police said.Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against four villagers following a complaint by his father. In his FIR, the boy’s father alleged that the four accused had repeatedly harassed and threatened his son.According to police, the boy returned home from school around 1 pm and later left, telling his family he was going out for some work. “A short while later, family members found him hanging from a tree behind their house. They brought him down and informed us,” said an officer.The body was shifted to the mortuary at RBM Hospital for post-mortem.“The boy’s father has alleged that a case was registered against him in connection with the 2019 murder of a villager’s son. A continuing dispute with the victim’s family subsequently led to several confrontations and the registration of more FIRs,” said an officer.The father alleged that four members of the rival group repeatedly targeted his son and threatened to kill him and assault his father. “The accused persons allegedly used the threats to force the family into settling the pending cases,” police said.“They would tell my son that they would beat his father and kill him,” the father alleged in his complaint. He also claimed his son had not disclosed the alleged harassment earlier because he was frightened.Officers said the allegations are being verified and statements of the accused, the student’s family members, school staff and other villagers will be recorded.
