Jaipur: With the aim of defence modernisation, the Sapta Shakti Command of the Indian Army and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Monday to collaborate in the field of research and development and technological innovations.The MoU was signed at headquarters, Sapta Shakti Command Jaipur, by Lt General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command, and professor V Ramgopal Rao, group vice chancellor, BITS Pilani.“This partnership aims to promote academic excellence to meet the emerging military operational requirements and foster a culture of innovation to address modern battlefield challenges,” states an official release issued by PRO Defence Jaipur. The MoU will focus on developing home-grown solutions tailored to the unique topographical and operational challenges of Sapta Shakti Command. It will also provide access to academic programmes, research facilities and workshops, “ensuring that the human resource of Sapta Shakti Command is future-ready.”“BITS Pilani has always been at the forefront of engineering excellence. This MoU is a testament to our commitment to nation-building,” said Rao.After signing the MoU, Lt Gen Singh said, “Modern security landscape demands technologically superior and indigenous solutions to win future wars. The expertise available at BITS Pilani would be pivotal in tailoring academic research to meet the operational needs of Sapta Shakti Command and Indian Army, duly contributing towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”
