Ajmer: Special Judge Hemant Singh of Ajmer’s POCSO Court No. 1 Tuesday sentenced a convict to imprisonment till death for abducting and raping a five-year-old girl. The court also directed payment of Rs 8 lakh to the child under the victim compensation scheme.In its judgement, the court said, “Repeating of such heinous crime in the society weaken the faith of people in law and order and justice system. Till such criminals are not dealt with strict punishment, there will be no fear of law in the criminals.”The court said laws such as the POCSO Act are meant to protect children and ensure their faith in the justice system.According to the case, the victim’s father lodged a complaint at JLN Hospital on July 9, 2024. He said his daughter had been playing outside their house the previous day and did not return for a long time, prompting the family to search for her. A girl from the colony told them the child was crying behind bushes. The father found his daughter bleeding, with her clothes soaked in blood. He first took her to a private hospital and then to JLN Hospital.The girl told police the accused took her near a hand pump and assaulted her. Police registered an FIR, investigated the case, arrested the accused and filed a charge sheet.“We produced 23 witnesses and 33 documents to prove the crime against the accused. On Tuesday, the court sentenced the accused,” said Prashant Yadav, special public prosecutor. He said the convict would remain in jail till death and court had directed that no relief be given to him.
