Jaisalmer: An out-of-control SUV overturned on the Balotra highway near Mawdi village Thursday evening as a family returned from the Jasol Mata temple, killing an 18-year-old woman and injuring seven others. Three of the injured remain in critical condition.Nine family members from Keswana village in Jalore district were travelling back from the Jasol Mata temple in Balotra when the vehicle went out of control and turned turtle near Mawdi.Villagers informed the 108 ambulance service, which took the injured to Balotra’s government Nahta Hospital. Doctors declared Neetu, 18, daughter of Suraj Kumar Darji and a resident of Keswana, dead during treatment.The seriously injured were identified brothers Tarun, 10, and Hitesh Kumar, 17, sons of Suraj Kumar Darji, Kamla Devi, 50, wife of Kantilal, Purushottam, 27, son of Rameshwar Lal Vaishnav, and Mamta, 21, daughter of Kantilal Darji, all residents of Keswana.Siwana police reached the site, inspected the spot, and began an investigation into the cause of the accident. Neetu’s body was kept in the mortuary at govt Nahta Hospital, Balotra, and will be handed to the family after post-mortem formalities.
