Jaipur: Varsha Singh knocked out top seed Aaradhya Dhingra in the U-17 girls singles in a closely fought three-game second round to storm into the quarter-finals of the O N Dixit Memorial District Badminton tournament at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.In the quarter-finals of U-11 girls singles, top seed Rashi Singhal defeated Hanika, Nitisha Goud beat Malvika, while Geetashree Tak prevailed over Deepawali. Second seed Ruhani Yadav downed Nishika Nag to enter the semis.In the U-11 boys singles, Naitik Bansal, Aryan Agarwal, Akshit, Himaksh, Shiv Chauhan, Aditya Vats, Mehul Sharma, Lakshit Rewar reached the quarter-finals.Anish Chahar, Mudit Pandey, Pranav Mulchandani, Punya Miglani, Borruddin Hasan, Naitik Bansal, Vaideh Jain and Manvendra reached the quarterfinals in the U-13 boys singles.In the U-13 girls singles category, Padmaja Singh, Gaurika Goyal, Mohika Kaushal, Mahi Saini, Nitisha Goud, Aaradhya Bishnoi, Kairo Arya and Hanika sailed into the last-eight stage.According to tournament secretary Atul Gupta, singles matches for boys and girls in U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories will be played on Thursday and matches for men’s category will also start from Thursday evening. Atul Gupta welcomed special guests Lalit Bhardwaj, Rohit Ajmera, Vivek Sharma. Jaipur District Badminton Association secretary Manoj Dasot welcomed the chief guest, Yash Samiti president Ashish Saraf and social worker Parag Lashkari.
