Sariska sees throng of year-end tourists

Alwar: There is such a throng of tourists at Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district ahead of new year celebrations that it is causing traffic jams on roads leading to the reserve’s entry gates. Long queues of tourist vehicles, safari Gypsies and Canters were seen at Sariska gate Thursday along with traffic jams on the Alwar-Jaipur road. Hotels in Sariska area are fully booked, their operators say.Sources say more than 2,000 tourists are arriving daily at Sariska for wildlife safari. The Sariska administration has increased the number of ticket counters. Tourists who went on Thursday morning’s safari reported sightings of tiger ST-7 and two panthers. Dinesh Durrani, operator of Hotel Sariska Haven, said the hotel was fully booked from Thursday till the first week of Jan.DFO (tourism) at Sariska, Hemendra Singh, said large crowds of tourists are thronging Sariska and to ensure they don’t face inconvenience, facilities for tourists have been increased in advance.
