Jaipur: Rajesh Bhardwaj, chairman, organising committee (LOC), Boxing World Cup Final of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi recently. He was accompanied by BFI president and SpiceJet chairman Ajay Singh, BFI general secretary Pramod Kumar and Padma Shri awardee and 2012 Beijing Olympic medalist Vijender Singh. Four women boxers who recently won medals at international competitions and brought pride to the nation were also part of the delegation.During the interaction, the President praised the achievements of the medal winning athletes and encouraged them to strive for even greater success in the future. She said that winning a gold medal would not only bring them recognition but would also enhance the country’s prestige. She expressed confidence that these athletes would continue to bring glory to India in the coming years. On this special occasion, all members of the delegation shared their views and experiences on the development of boxing in India, the requirements of players and future plans for the sport.The delegation also included the new rising stars of Indian boxing who have recently achieved remarkable success at the international level. Minakshi and Jasmine, who both won gold medals at the Liverpool World Boxing Championship and the Greater Noida World Boxing Cup Finals, were present.Nupur, who won a silver at the World Boxing Championship and gold at the World Boxing Cup Finals, and Pooja Rani, who secured a bronze at the World Boxing Championship and a silver at the World Boxing Cup Finals, also took part in the meeting. The President highly appreciated the courage, discipline and achievements of these young athletes and described them as the pride of the nation.Rajesh Bhardwaj said that this experience inspires him to continue working not only toward world class event organisation and structural development but also to remain committed to improving training, nutrition, resources and international opportunities for athletes. According to him, this meeting further strengthened his belief that India has the capability to reach the pinnacle of global sports and that this goal can certainly be achieved through collective efforts in the right direction.
