Jaipur/Bhilwara: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Chittorgarh police was sent to police lines on Tuesday after a routine traffic stop on a highway descended into chaos, leaving a woman briefly exposed to the wheels of a patrol vehicle.The incident occurred around 5pm when police stopped a car and asked the driver to produce documents. What began as a routine check soon escalated into a confrontation between officers and the occupants of the vehicle. Officials said attempts were made to calm the driver, but he refused to comply.A video later circulated showing police trying to push a man into the patrol jeep. Women members of the family protested, moving closer to the vehicle. In the middle of the commotion, one woman grabbed hold of the jeep’s door and prevented it from being shut, shouting as officers tried to clear the space.Police said another person attempted to snatch the keys from the driver of the patrol vehicle, prompting officers to intervene and pull him away. Tensions rose further as officers tried to remove the woman clinging to the door. She was pushed back. At the same moment, the jeep moved forward.The woman lost her balance and fell to the ground, narrowly avoiding the wheels of the vehicle. She was not run over.The episode was captured on video by someone present at the scene. The footage surfaced later, drawing attention to the handling of the stop and prompting the decision to send the assistant sub-inspector to lines, pending further inquiry.
