Jaisalmer: Barmer district and sessions judge Ajitabh Acharya Monday sentenced a former govt school teacher to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh for murdering his mother, wife, and two daughters nine years ago. The teacher had gone to the police station and confessed to his crime, stating that he only intended to kill his wife but eliminated the entire family, thinking about who would take care of them if the wife was not there.In court, police presented 19 witnesses, 79 documents, and 18 articles, prosecution lawyer Damodar Kumar Chaudhary said. He said the crime took place on the night of Oct 20, 2016, when Ranaram, then 44 years of age, murdered his 70-year-old mother Parvati, wife Lali Devi, 40, and daughters Devi, 14, and Santosh, 12. Chaudhary said that after committing the murder, Ranaram sat among the bodies all night. He reached Dhorimanna police station, 15km away from his house, in the morning and said there, “I have committed four murders, arrest me.” At first, even the police could not believe it. When they saw blood on his clothes, police went to his house in Ranasar Kalan village and shocked to see the blood-soaked bodies of four family members.
