Udaipur: The Khelo India University Games-2025 beach volleyball tournament began for the first time in Rajasthan at the Mahakal Temple complex on the banks of Fatehsagar Lake, giving Udaipur a prominent place on the state’s sports map.The event was inaugurated in the presence of Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulabchand Kataria, Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain and Indian Volleyball Federation general secretary Ramanand Chaudhary. Governor Kataria praised Udaipur’s sports development and said Maharana Pratap Khelgaon was the state’s largest sports village. He called for creating modern facilities to host international events.Organisers said two courts were set up using 800 tons of sand brought from Gujarat. League matches began with the top eight men’s and women’s university teams, many from Tamil Nadu.
