Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced a 15-day road safety campaign across the state beginning Tuesday under the joint coordination of the transport, police, and public works departments.Chairing a high-level meeting on traffic and road safety at his officials residence late Monday, Sharma directed officials to cancel the driving licenses of repeat offenders caught overspeeding or driving under the influence of alcohol.He also instructed officials to close illegal road cuts on national and state highways at the earliest and to fix identified accident-prone zones to prevent mishaps.Sharma also ordered the transport and police departments to take action against transport companies forcing drivers to work overtime and to penalise those stopping vehicles at non-designated locations.With regards to Jaipur, Sharma instructed the police commissioner to submit a plan on improving night-time traffic management, besides ordering strict enforcement of no-entry zones.
