‘Restroom break trick fails': Gujarat tourists nabbed in traffic jam after skipping Rs 10,900 bill at Mount Abu hotel

NEW DELHI: In a rather unusual chase across state lines, a group of tourists from Gujarat who allegedly left a Rajasthan restaurant without paying their Rs 10,900 bill were caught after getting stuck in traffic near the Gujarat border. According to police, the five tourists — including a woman — had checked into a Hotel near Mount Abu, on Monday. After ordering a large meal, they reportedly attempted to flee without paying by using an age-old trick: one by one, they excused themselves under the pretext of going to the restroom and slipped out. By the time the restaurant staff realised what had happened, the group had already driven off towards Rajasthan–Gujarat border.According to multiple media reports, CCTV footage captured their vehicle leaving the premises. Their getaway, however, was short-lived. Stuck in traffic near the border, the group was caught and handed over to police with the help of the hotelier. Officers said the tourists later contacted a friend to transfer the pending amount online, settling the bill. An investigation into the incident is underway.
