State seeks return of 2 IAS officers from Centre

Jaipur: Facing a shortage of IAS officers, with only 280 serving out of a sanctioned strength of 332, Rajasthan govt has sought the repatriation of IAS officers Rohit Kumar and Siddharth Mahajan from central deputation. At present 23 Rajasthan cadre IAS officers are on central deputation, and one is on inter-state deputation, leading to increased workloads for the remaining officers.Mahajan serves as joint secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, while Kumar is additional secretary in the cabinet secretariat. Another officer, PC Kishan, has also applied to return to Rajasthan for personal reasons.Sources said the vacancy for principal secretary to the CM, following Alok Gupta’s transfer, might be filled by one of these officers. Additionally, Rajasthan is set to receive four more IAS officers post-Diwali through promotions, with 20 candidates under consideration by the UPSC.
