Students lock up VC for ‘lauding’ Aurangzeb

Udaipur: Students at Mohan Lal Sukhadia University in Udaipur Tuesday continued their protest for the second day against vice-chancellor Sunita Mishra describing Mughal emperor Aurangzeb as a skilled ruler. When Mishra reached the administrative building, students locked the channel gate of her chamber from outside.Chanting slogans against the VC, the students first staged a sit-in on the university campus. Upon learning that the VC would be visiting the hotel management college, students gathered there, shouted slogans, and removed the welcoming materials. Later, they proceeded to the arts college, where exams were scheduled in the afternoon. The students insisted on halting the exams. Sukher police station SHO Ravindra Charan and Savina police station SHO Ajay Singh Rao remained deployed with their teams at the college. Students then pasted posters with the VC’s photo on the gate, walls, and on boards around the varsity’s administrative building, smearing them with black ink. The posters read “Boycott Vice-Chancellor”. Some student leaders even wrote a letter to the governor with their blood, urging the removal of the VC to protect the honour of Mewar.Additional SP (city) Umesh Ojha and ADM Dipendra Singh arrived at the scene to negotiate with the students. However, the students remained firm in their demands, and police personnel were deployed at the site.
