Beniwal gets stay from HC on eviction

Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Tuesday stayed eviction proceedings against Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal, who was served a notice to vacate a house allotted under the MLA quota at Jyoti Nagar, Jaipur.Justice Sameer Jain issued the stay during a preliminary hearing on Beniwal’s petition challenging the eviction notice issued by the Estate Officer Court. The HC also issued notices to the state govt, estate officer, additional district magistrate, ADM (law) Ashish Sharma, and the chief secretary, seeking their responses. The state govt was asked to provide information on similar cases.Beniwal’s counsel, Sumitra Choudhary, alleged the Estate Officer Court was biased in favour of the state govt, issuing short hearing dates and dismissing objections without proper consideration. “The proceedings were unwarranted and had prejudicial conduct in favour of state govt,” Choudhary said. tnn
