Jaipur: The state govt has dropped its plans to hold a grand event to celebrate the first anniversary of the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, opting instead for a subdued event focused solely on ‘Pravasi Rajasthanis’ on Dec 10.The mega partnership summit, which was scheduled and on course till a month ago, was scrapped about 10 days ago, said sources. While no specific reasons were cited, sources alleged the splitting of administrative control between the Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) and the industries department to be the main reason.“The alignment between both the industries department and RIICO is missing this time because of two power centres. This used to be one when the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit was organised last year,” said a source in the industries dept. Instead of two days, as planned earlier, the event will be held only on Dec 10. The chief minister will not only address the Pravasi Rajasthanis but will also present a report card of the MoUs signed during the summit.“During the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas on Dec 10, the govt aims to strengthen ties with the global Rajasthani diaspora and harness their expertise across key sectors,” said the official. The state will seek collaboration with non-resident Rajasthanis in education, healthcare, tourism, industry, and water management and will also recognise their contribution.Special framework is being laid out to connect successful non-resident Rajasthanis with policymakers and stakeholders to drive investment, innovation, and inclusive growth, the official said.
