Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater (JMC-G) Saturday vacated and sealed a dilapidated building at Plot No. 676 near Rampur Arupa JP Colony in the Malviya Nagar zone. The action, supervised by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Priyavrat Singh Charan with the Building Construction and Vigilance Departments, was taken as a precaution to prevent potential harm to the public.DC Charan said, “The structure at Plot No. 676 was in an extremely deteriorated condition. Despite repeated notices, hearings, and advisories, the building owner did not vacate the property. Therefore, to avoid any danger to the public, the teams sealed the building.” He added that so far, 15 unsafe houses and shops have been sealed in the Malviya Nagar zone. During Saturday’s operation, a shop adjoining the old haveli was also sealed after it began tilting dangerously, posing a serious risk to residents. Charan added that in another case, a four-day notice has been served to the owner of a dilapidated property. “If repairs are not carried out or the building vacated within the given time, it will also be sealed in the interest of public safety,” he said. Reiterating JMC-G’s commitment to preventing accidents, the DC said strict action will continue against hazardous structures. Appealing to citizens, he added, “We urge people to report unsafe or deteriorating buildings in their locality so that timely action can be taken.”
