Jaipur: City police launched a probe into allegations that the director of a city sports academy harassed a 13-year-old schoolgirl during her training session. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint at Karni Vihar police station Friday, leading to a case under the POCSO Act.Police said the girl, a Class 8 student at a private school, attended the sports academy regularly. On Thursday evening, she was allegedly harassed by the academy director after he found her alone on the premises. The girl managed to escape. After reaching home, she narrated the incident to her family, following which her mother accompanied her to the police station to file the report.A police official said a case was registered and multiple teams are working to verify the sequence of events. “The child’s statement has been recorded. CCTV footage from inside and around the academy is being collected to corroborate the allegations. We will also identify and question staff, trainers, or others who may have been present in or near the premises at the time,” he said.Investigators said that witness accounts will be crucial in piecing together the events. The police are also scanning entry and exit points of the academy to verify the movements of the accused and the girl. A forensic team is expected to assist in evidence collection.“This is a serious matter as parents said the academy is frequented by several children. We have assured that strict action will follow if the charges are proven,” said the official, adding that a probe is underway.
