Jaisalmer: A youth drowned in Luni River after making a reel on the river’s bridge late Friday evening in the Sindhari police station area of Balotra district.The current was so strong that youth Himmat Ram slipped and was swept away by the river.During the incident, his friends were also present, but they ran away after seeing him drowning. Upon receiving the information, the police conducted a rescue operation with the help of local divers. Himmat Ram was searched within an area of about 2-3 km, but he was not found. The rescue was halted due to night fall, and the search resumed on Saturday morning, but there is still no trace of him.According to Sindhari police, Himmat Ram, a resident of Dukiya Lolawa in Balotra district, went to Bhata village with three friends for a party late Friday evening. On their way back, he made a reel on the Luni River. After that, he entered the water flowing over the bridge. While making a reel with his friends amidst the strong current on the bridge, he posted it on social media. During this, his foot suddenly slipped, and he started getting swept away. He tried to save himself, but the current was so strong that he was swept away.
