Jaisalmer: A man died by suicide after jumping into a water tank over wife’s alleged illicit relationship at Rawatsar village under Sadar police station area in Barmer district Saturday.The deceased, identified as Narsingaram (34), was allegedly reportedly distressed by his wife’s illicit relationship with her lover, who is a father of four children. The deceaseds family alled that after a few years of marriage, his wife started living with her lover. He was troubled by repeated death threats. Angry family members and villagers staged a protest outside the hospital Sunday, demanding the arrest of the deceased’s wife and her lover. At present, the police are trying to negotiate and explain the situation to the family.According to Sadar police, the deceased’s brother, Babulal Chauhan, said that Narsingaram married Meera Devi 10 years ago and had a son a year after the marriage. Since 2017, Meera was having an affair with Bhairaram from Rawatsar village and started living with him. Despite attempts by both her family and in-laws to reason with her, Meera did not relent. Several community meetings were held, but to no avail. Meera even filed cases against Narsingaram at the women’s police station, causing him distress. Troubled by the cases and the illicit relationship, Narsingaram took his own life, Babulal said.Former village headman Mana Ram said that over 50 community meetings were held regarding the illicit relationship between Meera and Bhairaram, and villagers tried to reason with them, but they did not listen. Three days ago, there was an attempt on Narsingaram’s life, and he was also troubled by the cases against him, he said.
