Bhilwara: Police seized 409kg of opium poppy husk worth around Rs 6.1 crore in the international market from a luxury SUV in Bijolia Saturday. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and an investigation is underway.Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav said all officers have been instructed to intensify action against narcotics smuggling. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Bijolia SHO Lokpal Singh, under the supervision of ASP Paras Jain and Mandalgarh deputy Babulal Bishnoi, set up a checkpoint at Kesarganj intersection.When a Fortuner matching the description from the alert appeared, the traffickers abandoned the vehicle and fled. On searching the SUV, police recovered 409.40kg of poppy husk packed in plastic bags.Police seized the contraband and vehicle. Police said efforts are on to identify and arrest those involved in the smuggling network.tnn
