Bhilwara: Former BJP state president Satish Poonia, who was in the city to attend a religious ceremony Thursday, addressed the press, commenting on former vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation and responding to criticism of the current state govt.Poonia defended Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma against accusations of weakness, while also stating his commitment to the party’s ideology and his lack of personal ambitions.Poonia, who currently serves as the Haryana BJP in-charge, responded to questions regarding perceived resentment within the Jat community after Dhankhar’s resignation and emphasised BJP’s commitment to inclusivity.“BJP is not a party of one community; it is a party of all communities. When we say all-inclusive and all-pervasive, any political event can be related to a person, community, party or idea, but the BJP works comprehensively above all these issues,” he said. In response to questions regarding Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra’s statement describing CM Sharma as helpless and weak, Poonia said, “During the previous Ashok Gehlot govt, we all witnessed chaos and lack of morality among Congressmen. They were in conflict among themselves. For the entire five years, they engaged in politics during the pandemic.”Poonia added, “Congress has no right to accuse the current BJP govt, which is doing a very good job. This is a double-engine govt working according to the public’s sentiments. There is still infinite space to work; give us a little more time.”Regarding his future plans, he stated, “Satish Poonia is a worker who follows BJP’s directions. He will work for its ideology as long as he is alive. I have no personal ambitions, demands or requests. I am very content in the role I am in.”
