Jaisalmer: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Thursday accused the Congress of indulging in appeasement politics and vote bank strategies.Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of an eye camp at Ramdevra in Jaisalmer, Sharma said that the recent verdict in the Malegaon blast case has exposed what he described as Congress’s long-standing appeasement tactics.He accused Congress of spreading misinformation, including the narrative of Hindu terror, and targeting innocent saints and the dignity of society.Sharma reiterated his belief that Hindus can never be terrorists, citing their values and the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which teaches that the world is one family.Sharma said Congress members often question his visits to temples and ask whether they too can visit their places of worship. He urged them to change their mindset, suggesting that it is now their turn to sing hymns.Without naming former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Sharma said that false promises and political tricks would no longer work as the people of Rajasthan are now fully aware.He also criticised attempts at religious conversion in the country, declaring that such efforts would not succeed.The eye camp is being held for the first time on the sacred land of Lok Devta Baba Ramdev. Sharma expressed his gratitude for being able to attend the occasion, noting that the event would provide free eye check-ups to approximately 125,000 people from Pokhran, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Phalodi, regions known for their significance in the tourism sector. He praised Baba Ramdev for establishing social harmony and highlighted the importance of the event for the local community.Sharma visited the Baba Ramdev panorama before walking barefoot from the Panorama to the Ramdevra temple to offer prayers. He inaugurated the mega eye screening camp, inspected the OPD facilities, and interacted with devotees along the way. The CM was welcomed by crowds with flower showers and garlands, and walked about a kilometre through the main market to the shrine, where he offered prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the state. He also visited the shrine of Dalibai and listened to devotional hymns at the Jammu Jagran site, marking the occasion as both a religious and social milestone for the region.
