Judicial employees ‘defy’ court order, continue stir

Jaipur: Around 22,000 judicial employees continued their strike despite the Rajasthan High Court’s order to rejoin duties Friday. The strike of these employees affected work at the subordinate courts across the state for the 8th consecutive day.A single judge bench of Justice Ashok Kumar Jain Thursday termed the strike as illegal and asked the district judges to take disciplinary action against those participating in the strike. In Jaipur, various employees did not return to their work and continued the strike. “We will continue the strike until our demands are met. The full bench sent our proposal to the state govt and it is still pending,” said Surendra Narayan Joshi, president of Rajasthan Judicial Services Association, while talking to TOI.Joshi said that the strike is successful so far across the state as none of the judicial staff have returned to work. Meanwhile, on the directions of the high court, the district judges across the state have issued notices to various employees at district courts and additional district judge courts to return to work.“We were given notices but nothing has been said about our demands. Though Saturday and Sunday are non-working days, we will still have a symbolic sit-in dharna for 2 hours during these days too,” Joshi added.According to sources, district judges have also written to the district collectors and district SPs to make alternative arrangements in the absence of the judicial staff in the courts.
