Jaipur: City police Thursday arrested a 23-year-old man and detained a minor for their alleged role in the July 18 incident where they shot at a person during a robbery near Gatte Wale Baba’s shrine in Bajaj Nagar police area. A Maruti Swift car without a number plate, used during the crime, has also been seized by police.ACP (Malviya Nagar) Aditya Poonia said Vikas Yadav, a resident of Kotputli Behror, and his juvenile accomplice teamed up with two others—Monu Dhankad and Jasraj Gurjar alias Jassi—on the night of July 18 with the intent to snatch mobile phones. “The gang was cruising along Tonk Road when they snatched a phone from a car occupant. As they tried to flee, the victim blocked their car, prompting one of the accused to open fire with a country-made pistol,” Poonia said.The bullet missed the intended target but struck a passerby. The assailants abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. Acting on specific leads, police arrested Yadav and detained the minor from Gopalpura bus stand while they were trying to leave the city. Both were identified by the complainant. Yadav was produced before court and remanded to police custody for recovery of the weapon used. The minor has been sent to a juvenile home.The man hit by the bullet was identified as Firoz. He worked as a volunteer at Gatte Wale Baba’s shrine. He was taken to Sawai Man Singh Hospital. Police are continuing efforts to nab Dhankad and Gurjar, who remain at large.
