Jaipur: Ajmer police Monday arrested a 70-year-old retired railway employee for raping a five-year-old girl at his home on Sunday. Police said they registered a case based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother and conducted a medical examination of the girl at JLN Hospital. The girl’s parents had gone to attend a social programme, leaving their daughter at a friend’s residence. When the mother returned to get her child, she found the house door locked from inside. She called out to her daughter and heard a response. She peeked through the door mesh and saw their friend’s father raping the child. She banged loudly on the door, prompting the frightened accused to open it, after which the mother went to the police. She told police that the social programme the parents attended was nearby and that they left the girl behind due to the excessive heat. She said when she left her child at her husband’s friend’s house, his parents were at home.
