Jaipur: Following the recent road collapse near the Ganga Jamuna petrol pump in Jaipur, traffic in the area has gone from bad to worse. Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has blamed private company Torrent Gas, alleging that their gas pipeline hollowed out the road from beneath.JDA has instructed the gas company to identify and repair their underground chambers. JDA’s executive engineer Kailash Chand Gupta said, “We are carrying out chamber searches to ensure similar incidents do not occur elsewhere in the area. Once the chambers are repaired, we will begin road reconstruction.”However, locals are visibly fed up. Repeated digging, repairs, and lack of coordination among agencies have left residents and shopkeepers feeling helpless. Hansraj Dwivedi, a local shopkeeper, said, “It’s beyond our understanding. Sometimes it’s JDA digging, then it’s the municipal corporation, then it’s the gas company. Roads are built, then immediately torn up again. It’s a complete waste of public money, and more importantly, we suffer every single day.“The episode has once again exposed the glaring gaps in coordination between civic bodies.
