Jaipur: In a significant move to enhance healthcare infrastructure, health department has announced plans to establish a network of haemodialysis centres across the state. The initiative aims to provide critical dialysis treatment, which filters waste and excess water from the blood, akin to the function of kidneys, in all 61 district hospitals. Currently, 41 of the 61 district hospitals are equipped with haemodialysis centres, each housing three to four machines, but none of these centres are 10-bedded. The new plan envisions expanding these facilities to 10-bedded centres in all 61 district hospitals. The expansion plan will require a total of 610 dialysis machines, of which 170 are already in place.Citing the example of Kekri district hospital, which currently operates with three dialysis machines, an official from the health department said, “We identified a requirement for seven additional machines and beds to transform it into a 10-bedded centre. This initiative is unprecedented in govt hospitals across the country.”The department has completed a comprehensive gap analysis and submitted a detailed report to health minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar for approval. The department will seek tender approval from the finance department to procure the additional 440 machines and necessary equipment. The expansion is particularly crucial for patients who cannot undergo kidney transplants and depend on regular dialysis for survival.Jaipur: In a significant move to enhance healthcare infrastructure, health department has announced plans to establish a network of haemodialysis centres across the state.
