Jaipur: Jaipur’s long-awaited Ghat ki Guni bus terminal on Agra Road is finally set to get a permanent building, with Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) appointing Rajasthan State Agricultural Marketing Board as turnkey contractor for the project. The facility, located in Transport Nagar, currently handles RSRTC’s Agra Road-bound services but has been functioning with bare-minimum arrangements.A senior RSRTC official said the detailed design is still being prepared, and the corporation expects to finalise the blueprint soon. “Once work begins, the terminal should be ready in eight to 12 months,” the official said.According to the initial plan, the terminal will be a two-storey structure with passenger facilities such as ticket counters, waiting lounges, toilets, shops, food stalls and cafeterias. Information display boards and public announcement systems are also proposed. “It will be a mini version of the Sindhi Camp bus stand,” the official said.RSRTC shifted its Agra Road operations to Ghat ki Guni from April 1, 2025, after the state govt closed the bus stop at Narayan Singh Circle. Since then, commuters have complained of poor lighting, lack of enquiry counters and inadequate basic amenities, especially during early morning and late evening departures.“For late evening and early morning buses, the most basic problem is lighting. There is no proper enquiry facility to tell passengers when and where their bus will arrive. Even Volvo buses, RSRTC’s premium service, operate from here,” said Ayushman Verma, a regular traveller to Gurgaon.Officials said the decision was delayed because RSRTC had submitted two options to govt: terminal building at the existing Ghat ki Guni site or developing other land at Bagrana. “We have received approval to develop the present terminal. The Bagrana land will remain on standby. If this terminal becomes overloaded in future, another facility can be developed there,” another official said.
