Jaisalmer: A woman accused of honey-trapping and extorting money from a former sarpanch allegedly escaped from a police station in Balotra district Thursday morning, hours after she was arrested along with three others in the case.Police said four teams have been deployed to trace the woman, who they suspect may have fled on foot towards Dabard and Kazi Ki Dhani villages.DSP Sumer Singh said the woman was arrested along with three men, identified as Prakash, Bhawani and Kamlesh, late Wednesday evening. She allegedly escaped from the police station Thursday morning, he said.According to police, on the night of Aug 15, while the former sarpanch was returning from Sanchore, he allegedly gave her a lift. Police said some men who were waiting for them then abducted him at gunpoint.The accused allegedly took him to an isolated location, where they stripped and assaulted him. They allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh and threatened to circulate the video if he contested elections.Police said the accused extorted more than Rs 1.73 lakh from the former sarpanch through cash and online transactions before abandoning him on Dhorimanna Road and fleeing.
