Jaipur: City police Thursday busted an interstate land fraud racket that allegedly forged property documents and impersonated landowners to grab and sell residential plots. Five people, including the alleged mastermind carrying a ₹15,000 reward, were arrested.

DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said the gang used forged general powers of attorney, fake witnesses and imposters posing as genuine landowners before the registrar to fraudulently transfer ownership of plots and sell them to unsuspecting buyers. Police estimate the racket generated around ₹1.6 crore through fraudulent transactions.Police identified the arrested accused as the alleged mastermind Munesh Kumar Meena, Ashok Meena, Asha Bairwa, Gaurav Meena and Suraj Kumar. Munesh had been absconding and was carrying a reward of ₹15,000.The case was registered on the complaint of Sunil Khandelwal, who alleged that he and his wife, Anita Khandelwal, had legally purchased plots D-32 and D-33 in the Airport Enclave scheme at Tilawala in Jagatpura, obtained lease deeds from the Jaipur Development Authority, and registered the properties.The alleged fraud came to light when another buyer began constructing a boundary wall on the plots, claiming he had purchased them from Rishikesh Meena.According to police, Bharat Lal Meena, Rishikesh Meena, Ajay Khandelwal and others conspired to prepare forged powers of attorney and execute fake sale deeds to usurp the plots. Banipark police registered an FIR and began investigating the case.The probe found that Asha Bairwa allegedly impersonated Anita Khandelwal to execute a forged power of attorney in favour of Bharat Lal Meena. Another individual allegedly posed as Sunil Khandelwal to execute a similar document for the second plot.Police also found that the witnesses named in the forged documents had used fake identities. During the investigation, Gaurav Meena was identified as the person who allegedly impersonated one of the witnesses by signing documents and posing for photographs during registration.Using the forged powers of attorney, the accused allegedly executed fake sale deeds in favour of Rishikesh Meena before the plots were sold to Ajay Gupta, police said.Investigators said the gang targeted high-value plots, created forged powers of attorney, produced imposters before the registrar, used fake witnesses and routed ownership through multiple transactions before selling the land to unsuspecting buyers.
