Jaipur: A day after two students were injured when ceiling plaster collapsed inside a govt school classroom in Bassi, Additional Chief Secretary (school education) Rajesh Yadav conducted surprise inspections of govt schools in Jaipur and Dausa districts, Wednesday. He directed officials to immediately secure or demolish unsafe buildings.Reviewing the condition of school infrastructure, Yadav said, “Dilapidated buildings pose a serious threat to student safety and should not be used under any circumstances. He directed officials to immediately restrict access to unsafe structures and expedite repairs or demolition wherever required.”During the inspections, Yadav climbed temporary ladders to inspect rooftops of schools where permanent staircases were unavailable, personally assessing roof conditions and construction quality. He instructed officials to arrange temporary ladders at such schools to facilitate regular roof inspections, particularly during the monsoon.Engineers accompanying the inspection were directed to ensure that rainwater does not accumulate on rooftops or around building foundations, and that school premises and roofs are cleaned regularly to prevent structural damage.Yadav also reviewed schools under construction and instructed engineers to conduct Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) to verify the quality of construction. According to the education department, any building found to be below prescribed standards or failing quality tests will have to be reconstructed. He also directed officials to strengthen digital monitoring of private schools through the Rajshala Sambalan app and improve the assessment of academic quality across educational institutions in the state.
