Jaipur: Southwest monsoon continued to strengthen its grip over Rajasthan, with rainfall remaining favourable across most parts of the state. Data released by the Jaipur Meteorological Centre Thursday showed that only five districts — Banswara, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur and Sirohi — remain in the rainfall deficit category, while the remaining 36 of the state’s 41 districts have recorded normal to excess rainfall since June 1.According to the data, 18 districts have received normal rainfall and another 18 have recorded above-normal rainfall. Of these, 11 fall in the excess rainfall category, while seven have witnessed abnormal rainfall, with precipitation nearly 50% above the seasonal average.A review of district-wise rainfall data by TOI showed that Jhalawar has emerged as the wettest district this monsoon, recording 207 mm of rainfall till July 9, while Jaisalmer has received the least at just 24 mm.The state capital has also witnessed a strong monsoon season. Jaipur has recorded 147 mm of rainfall so far, nearly 40% above the normal for the corresponding period, reflecting active monsoon conditions over eastern Rajasthan.The districts classified under the abnormal rainfall category are Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Churu, Deedwana-Kuchaman, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur and Salumbar, all of which have received substantially higher rainfall than their seasonal averages.Monsoon activity remained vigorous Thursday, triggering moderate to heavy showers across several districts. Badesar and Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district and Bayana in Bharatpur recorded the highest rainfall of 90 mm each. Pahari in Bharatpur received 70 mm, while Bari in Dholpur, Chhabra in Baran and Nagarfort in Tonk recorded 60 mm each.Rainfall of 50 mm was recorded in Bayeer in Bharatpur and Nawa in Nagaur. Several places, including Sikrai (Dausa), Dungla (Chittorgarh), Thanagazi (Alwar), Shahpura (Bhilwara), Kaman (Bharatpur), Peepalkhoont (Pratapgarh), Dholpur tehsil and Nokha (Bikaner), received 40 mm each. Many other parts of the state recorded between 10 mm and 30 mm of rain, keeping monsoon conditions active and boosting kharif sowing and water availability.
