Groundwork begins for Jaipur Metro Phase II, clearances awaited
Jaipur Metro work starts at Prahladpura

Jaipur: Preparatory work for Jaipur Metro Phase II has begun, with the Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC) initiating pre-construction activities at the proposed Prahladpura metro station site. Early field activity has begun even as the project awaits final clearances for a formal foundation stone ceremony to begin full-scale construction.“The turnkey contractor is executing pre-construction tasks, including soil testing and ground levelling, to prepare the corridor site. However, full-scale construction will start once the official foundation stone laying ceremony takes place,” stated a senior metro official.RMRC officials said the corporation is ready to move ahead with the project but is awaiting approvals from the Prime Minister’s Office and the chief minister’s Office to finalise the date for the foundation stone ceremony.“In all likelihood, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone. But we need confirmation from the central govt. The PMO may also ask a union minister or chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to lay the foundation stone. We are expecting approval in a few days,” a senior official stated.Work on the corridor will be executed through seven packages, with the appointed contractor, operating as a joint venture, tasked with delivering one of seven segments of the entire 41-km-long corridor, connecting Prahaldpura in Sanganer to Todi Mod in Vidhyadhar Nagar.“The first package, from Prahladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala, will have 10 elevated stations over Tonk Road. RMRC will spend around Rs 918 crore for this package,” stated another metro official.
