Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma

Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Saturday said urban development projects worth Rs11,560 crore are currently being implemented across Rajasthan under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, covering 363 projects in 200 cities and towns aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure and improving public services. Addressing the 9th Grand Convention of the Rajasthan Nagar Palika Karmchari Federation at Rajasthan International Centre (RIC), Sharma said the state government is committed to developing clean, organised and citizen-friendly urban centres through technology-driven governance, transparency and accountability. He said key projects under AMRUT 2.0 include expansion of drinking water supply networks, sewerage systems, drainage infrastructure and digital municipal services. The government is also focusing on modern sanitation systems and scientific solid waste management to improve the quality of urban life. Sharma said the recently introduced Township Policy-2024 would support planned urbanisation and help strengthen basic civic amenities in growing cities and towns. Describing municipal employees as the backbone of urban administration, the chief minister said the government is committed to protecting their welfare, social security and working conditions. He assured employees that their grievances would be addressed within stipulated timelines while safeguarding their dignity and interests. Emphasising the importance of urban local bodies in achieving the vision of Viksit Rajasthan 2047, Sharma said honest, transparent and efficient service delivery remains central to good governance. He urged municipal personnel to ensure timely services to citizens and maintain high standards of integrity. Highlighting the state’s performance in cleanliness rankings, Sharma said Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation secured the 16th position nationally among cities with populations above 10 lakh in Swachh Survekshan 2025, while Udaipur ranked 13th among cities with populations between three lakh and 10 lakh. He noted that municipal employees perform critical functions, including sanitation, drinking water supply, road maintenance, sewerage management, park upkeep, fire services and issuance of birth and death certificates. With rapid urbanisation, their role and responsibilities will become even more significant in the years ahead, he added.
