Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has begun disciplinary proceedings against 15 employees for allegedly failing to join duties related to Census 2027.Those facing action include senior teachers, lecturers, Level 1 and Level 2 teachers, and a junior assistant. The civic body maintained that there would be no relaxation in Census 2027 preparations, and action would continue as per rules against employees found negligent.Civic officials have proposed suspension action and forwarded the matter to the district collector after the employees reportedly remained absent despite repeated instructions and official notices.According to JMC officials, staff members from different departments were assigned census-related responsibilities through various zonal offices. They were directed to report to their respective offices and take charge within the stipulated time. However, several employees did not turn up for duty even after receiving appointment orders.The corporation initially issued directions asking them to join work and later served show-cause notices. Officials said the employees still failed to report, prompting the administration to initiate stricter action.JMC Commissioner Om Kasera wrote to the district collector, Sandesh Nayak, recommending final show-cause notices and proposed suspension action against the employees concerned. The administration has also warned that departmental proceedings could follow if the staff members continue to remain absent.JMC officials described the census as a task of national importance and said negligence in such work would not be tolerated. Officials added that the absence of assigned staff started affecting preparations linked to the large-scale exercise.
