Ajmer: The National Green Tribunal’s central zonal bench in Bhopal has issued notices to Ajmer officials, including the Ajmer Municipal Corporation commissioner, over alleged non-compliance with its July 7, 2023 order on waste remediation at the Makhupura trenching ground on Nasirabad Road. The notices were uploaded Monday and seek replies within four weeks. The action came on an execution application filed by petitioner Ashok Malik, who said the tribunal’s earlier order had not been carried out.In its July 2023 order, the NGT had directed the Ajmer Municipal Corporation to complete legacy waste remediation, or bio-mining, at the site within six months and submit a compliance report. However, in a reply dated Dec 22, 2025, the civic body said the work was still incomplete, indicating the order had not been fully implemented.Malik said AMC’s own compliance report showed that of the 3.36 lakh cubic metres of legacy waste identified in a Dec 2019 survey, about 3.30 lakh cubic metres had been processed by June 19, 2024. He argued this showed the work was not completed within the deadline set by the tribunal. He also alleged that AMC records contained conflicting figures on the status of the cleanup. The petition said waste at the trenching ground continued to pose an environmental risk and that fresh garbage from the city was still being dumped at the same site. It also alleged that wastewater from the dump was seeping into the ground, adding to environmental damage. The respondents named in the case include the AMC commissioner, the Rajasthan Pollution Control Board secretary, the Ajmer district collector and other officials.
