JDA plans to build 4 Dravyavati culverts

Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is planning to construct four culverts over the Dravyavati River, with the aim to decongest major roads like Tonk Road, Gopalpura Bypass Road, and Shipra Path.Officials stated that the culverts will help around 40,000 vehicles a day from detouring a stretch of 2.5 km to 4 km to cross the river.“We plan to construct four box culverts to improve connectivity between busy areas in Katewa Nagar, New Sanganer Road, and Govind Marg. The culverts will be constructed behind the New Atish Market, near Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Devri, and near RIICO STP in Sanganer. This would benefit residents of at least 60 colonies on both sides of the river,” stated a JDA official Monday. The proposal for these culverts was already approved in the 94th meeting of the Traffic Control Board (TCB) of the civic body. The Projects Works Committee (PWC) of JDA has also issued the financial and administrative approval for them.“JDA will spend Rs 16.67 crore on construction of these culverts,” another official added.Besides, JDA is spending Rs 6 crore to prepare a feasibility report for an elevated road along the 47-km Dravyavati corridor. The civic body also plans to beautify stretches of both sides of the river and develop visitor areas there.
