Jaipur: The Jaipur Regional Transport Office (RTO) mandated its motor vehicle inspectors to issue challans totalling Rs 2 lakh daily until March 31 to achieve financial revenue targets.With over 3,500 commercial vehicles defaulting on tax payments, inspectors were directed to identify and penalise defaulters to bolster tax collection efforts.An order issued by RTO Jaipur (I) Rajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday stated, “In accordance with the directives issued by the deputy chief minister during a video conference held on March 12, it shall be ensured that, from March 13, 2026, to March 31, 2026, every flying squad achieves a daily target of collecting a compounding amount of Rs 2,00,000.”The order adds that proposals for disciplinary action shall be initiated against inspectors who fail to achieve “this minimum collection, as their performance will be deemed below average.”“If a team issues 10 challans a day, they will be able to meet this target. There are many commercial vehicles with pending dues, and this is a realistic target given to the inspectors to ensure that all revenue leakages can be identified and fixed,” said Shekhawat.In the current financial year, the highest revenue target of Rs 1,751 crore was kept for RTO Jaipur (I), while the lowest was for RTO Dause at Rs 296.2 crore.Until March 9, RTO Jaipur (I) achieved 68.05% of its target for financial year 2025-26. In 2024-25, RTO Jaipur (I) collected revenue of Rs 1,321.47 crore.Meanwhile, the state achieved 71.06% of its target for this year, which stands at Rs 6,640.61 crore. This year, RTO Jaipur (II) achieved 80.3% of the target, collecting Rs 497.2 crore in revenue against Rs 619 crore. Officials further said that RTO Jaipur (I) has achieved its highest-ever compounding fee (CF) collection, with the total surpassing Rs 50 crore till Thursday. Officials said that Jaipur has witnessed the highest number of enforcement actions against overloaded vehicles across Rajasthan, with measures taken against 10,577 such vehicles. This year, 20% of all enforcement actions against overloaded vehicles throughout the state were carried out in Jaipur, said officials.
