Jaipur: A fire broke out at a three-storey factory manufacturing plastic coolers in Bindayaka industrial area here Friday, prompting a massive firefighting operation, officials said.More than 40 fire tenders from Bindayaka, Bagru, Jhotwara and Mansarovar, along with private water tankers, were pressed into service to douse the flames.Firefighters took over four hours to bring the blaze under control. No casualties were reported, though all the coolers stored in the factory were gutted in the fire, officials said.Civil defence personnel retrieved several commercial cylinders from inside the factory during the operation. A ladder was also deployed to spray water from the top of the three-storey building, they said.Firefighters also broke open the rear portion of the factory using a JCB machine to gain entry and control the fire from inside.Authorities closed roads in the surrounding industrial area and diverted traffic as a precautionary measure.Police said the fire was suspected to be caused by a short circuit, though the exact cause is under investigation.Officials said some firefighting equipment installed at the factory was found to be past its expiry date.
