Jaipur: Rajasthan is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures, with most parts of the state recording mercury levels well above the seasonal average. According to the meteorological centre in Jaipur, both minimum and maximum temperatures in several districts are currently 4 to 8 degrees higher than normal.
Border district Barmer was the hottest in the state, registering a maximum of 38.4°C. The Met office warned that between March 8 and March 10, some south-western parts of Rajasthan could see the mercury touching 40°C. The prevailing weather pattern is attributed to active northerly winds, which are contributing to dry conditions across the state. The department said the weather is likely to remain dry for the next couple of days. Jaipur recorded a warm morning with minimum temperature 20.2°C and the maximum climbed to 35.8°C, about 6.5°C above normal.
