Jaipur: As many as 43,421 litres of ghee suspected to be adulterated was seized in Jaipur Thursday from three warehouses linked to Messrs Girdhar Milk Food Product and another unit operating at the same premises by the name of Shri Shyam Milk Food Product. The seized stock comprised 9,065 liters of Bhog Vinayak brand ghee in different pack sizes, 17,741 liters of Haryana Cream brand ghee, and 16,617 liters of Naksh Dairy brand ghee. Food safety officials sent samples of each brand for laboratory testing.Food safety commissioner T Shubhmangala said the action followed test reports from Pratapgarh district in which Bhog Vinayak brand ghee samples were found unsafe. A team inspected Girdhar Milk Food Product, listed in records as operating from Shyam Vihar Colony, Macheda, Jaipur, and found the firm was not functioning at the licensed address but was conducting the ghee business from another location, in violation of Food Safety and Standards Act.During the inspection, officials also found Shri Shyam Milk Food Product operating from the same establishment, and the combined stock of the two firms was seized after sampling. Authorities said further action will be taken after test reports of the samples are received.Earlier, the central food testing lab in Jaipur had confirmed the Bhog Vinayak brand ghee sample as unsafe, following which orders were issued for immediate recall of the product from markets across the state, and proceedings were initiated to cancel the firm’s food licence.
