Jaipur: BJP’s Hawa Mahal MLA, Balmukundacharya, raised in the state Assembly Thursday the issue of loudspeakers at mosques. He said calls for prayer from mosque loudspeakers begin as early as 4am and disrupt sleep as well as children’s studies. “Elderly and sick people are troubled due to this noise pollution. People’s sleep gets disturbed and this amounts to a violation of their rights,” he said. He further said that when local residents request for reduction in the loudspeaker volume, the mosque functionaries become aggressive. He demanded that the govt regulate the volume of mosque loudspeakers. tnn
