Bhilwara: Police in Bhilwara district seized 2,300 opium plants allegedly cultivated illegally and hidden among mustard and gram crops in Taswariya Khurd village in Shahpura police station area Sunday. A case was registered under NDPS Act and an investigation begun, police said.Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh said the action was taken under supervision of Shahpura ASP Rajesh Arya. A police team was formed under Shahpura SHO Suresh Chand, who received information about illegal opium plants hidden in the field of Goma Banjara in Banjaro Kheda village.The police team went to the field and found opium plants growing between gram and mustard crops. Police uprooted and seized 2,300 opium plants under videography of the process.Police said Goma Banjara was cultivating the opium without licence or lease.
