Jaipur: Rajasthan Police decided to send a section of newly recruited constables outside the state for training, citing limited training capacity within Rajasthan and the need to expose recruits to different policing practices. The decision followed the recently concluded constable recruitment examination, which selected nearly 9,000 candidates. However, police training infrastructure in the state can accommodate only about 6,000 trainees at a time across various police training centres and major academies, including the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA). Officials said the exact number of constables to be sent outside the state will be finalised once candidates who received appointment letters formally report for training.Director general of police Rajeev Kumar Sharma said some batches of constables would be deputed for training to other states, preferably Madhya Pradesh, and also to central armed police forces such as the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).“This will be a good step to provide a new learning experience for our cadets. They will be trained under the Rajasthan training module but will also get exposure to the functioning of other states and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs),” Sharma said.He said the move would benefit Rajasthan by giving recruits a broader operational perspective and exposure to different working environments. Officials added that the state earlier followed a similar practice by sending small batches of constables outside Rajasthan for training.According to officials, training the entire batch simultaneously within the state was not feasible due to infrastructure limitations. They said the alternative was to ask a section of recruits to wait for their turn, which would delay training for nearly half the batch.Union Home minister Amit Shah on January 10 distributed appointment letters to newly selected constables at a ceremony held at the RPA in Jaipur. Officials said training schedules will now be staggered to ensure timely induction of the entire batch.
