Bhilwara: A five-day flower show was inaugurated at MTM Society near Ajmeri Puliya in Bhilwara city Saturday. The exhibition was set up to promote environmental protection and conservation among people and to make women aware of kitchen garden plants so they could prepare kitchen gardens at home. The event was inaugurated in the presence of spiritual leaders who were chanting religious verses, with more than 25,000 plants from over 30 different species being exhibited.One of the major attractions at the exhibition was the display of over 15 flower-based artworks that included a 15-feet-tall ISRO rocket, iPhone, tea kettle and cup, ants, purse, cap, ‘3 Idiots’ chair, Chhota Bheem, dhol, sarangi, duck family, boat, flying umbrella, dancing peacock, fruits, matki, and floral decorations on the ropeway. Along with this, a natural flower rangoli and exhibits prepared by seven city schools highlighting students’ creativity and environmental awareness also drew attention.Spokesperson of the Plant Flower Committee, Kailash Soni said that the event aimed to boost awareness about the environment while promoting kitchen gardening to reduce dependence on chemical-laden vegetables.Coordinator of the Bhilwara Plant Flower Society, Asha Khandelwal said, “Women face daily challenges in managing vegetables at home. After visiting the kitchen garden section, they can learn to grow their own, while children can expand their knowledge about plants.”The fair will be held until Jan 14.
