Kota: A special POCSO court in Jhalawar Monday sentenced a 22-year-old man to rigorous imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life for raping a 13-year-old girl a year ago in Bakani police station area of the district. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1,05,000 upon the convict.Special Judge, POCSO Court No. 2, Jhalawar, Sanjay Kumar Bhatnagar awarded Suraj Kumar (22), a resident of Badbad village life term in jail till natural death for the crime that took place in June 2025, public prosecutor (PP) Depesh Bhargav said.The minor survivor registered a report against Suraj Kumar on June 15, 2025, and alleged that Kumar during the early hours the same day, forcibly took her to an isolated placewhere he raped her, the PP said.The police lodged a case against Kumar under Sections 137(2) and 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act and arrested him. Statements of 12 witnesses were recorded during the trial and 23 documents were exhibited in the court, he added. .
